ESRC – Festival of Social Science Schools Event : Imagining Alternative Futures for Mid Wales

This interactive event will enable young people to analyze data and information about the diverse challenges facing Mid Wales. It will also encourage them to devise solutions to these challenges, as a way of imagining an alternative and sustainable future for the region. The event is aimed at 16-18 year olds (sixth form), and will help develop students’ research skills, which will be of benefit in many contexts: the Welsh Baccalaureate, especially the Individual Investigation and component of ‘Wales, Europe and the World’; A level Geography, especially in relation to AS Unit 2 on ‘Changing Places’ and as a way of formulating questions for the Independent Investigation; A level Economics, especially the A2 unit on ‘Evaluation of Economic Models and Policies’; A level Business Studies, mainly in relation to A2 unit 4 on ‘Business in a Changing World’; A level Government and Politics, especially AS units 1 and 2.
