Have your say on the future of the National Assembly for Wales

Ceredigion residents will be able to voice their opinion on the future of the National Assembly for Wales at an open meeting which will be held at Theatr Arad Goch, Bath Street, Aberystwyth on Thursday, March 15 at 6pm.

The meeting, Creating a Parliament for Wales, is being co-hosted by the Centre for Politics and Society Wales – WISERD at Aberystwyth University and the National Assembly for Wales.

It is one of a series of meetings being held across Wales to discuss the consultation regarding reforms to the Assembly that have been recommended to ensure that it can fulfill its responsibilities more effectively and to improve the governance of Wales.

A panel, led by the Llywydd of the National Assembly, Elin Jones AM, will discuss a number of the recommendations put forward regarding increasing the number of Assembly Members; which voting system should be used to elect Assembly Members and who should be entitled to vote in Assembly elections. This will be followed by an open discussion and Q&A.

The evening will be chaired by Dr Elin Royles, Senior Lecturer in the Department of International Politics. She said: “The Centre of Welsh Politics and Society is extremely glad to be working with the Assembly Commission to host the event.”

“The consultation offers the people of Wales the opportunity to voice their opinion on issues that have challenged the Assembly since its inception, in terms of the number of Assembly Members and other steps that can strengthen democracy in Wales in the future.”

The event is free and everybody is welcome to attend, but please register beforehand for tickets on: https://www.futuresenedd.wales/events/
